Target Information
Isocitrate dehydrogenases catalyze the oxidative decarboxylation of isocitrate to 2-oxoglutarate. These enzymes are divided into NAD-dependent and NADP-dependent subclasses. Five isocitrate dehydrogenases are known: three NAD-dependent forms located in the mitochondrial matrix and two NADP-dependent forms, one mitochondrial and one cytosolic. The NADP-dependent mitochondrial isozyme encoded by this gene contributes to intermediary metabolism and energy production, and may interact with the pyruvate dehydrogenase complex.
