Target Information
The GAB2 gene belongs to the GRB2-associated binding protein (GAB) family. These proteins contain pleckstrin homology (PH) domains and interact with SHP2 tyrosine phosphatase and GRB2 adapter proteins. They function as adapters for transmitting signals in response to cytokine and growth factor receptor activation, as well as T- and B-cell antigen receptor stimulation. GAB2 is the principal activator of phosphatidylinositol-3 kinase upon high-affinity IgE receptor activation. Two alternatively spliced transcripts encoding different isoforms have been described.
