Source:
Monoclonal antibody was obtained by fusing the mouse myeloma cell line P3-X63-Ag8-U1 with spleen cells of BALB/c mouse after immunization with human epidermal carcinoma cell A431. The monoclonal antibody was harvested from ascitic fluid.

Reconstitution:
Dissolve the lyophilized antibody in 50 µL of distilled water (final concentration: 2.0 mg/mL). This solution can be used as a stock solution. If dilution is necessary, dilute with the recommended buffer just prior to use. Store the antibody at a minimum concentration of 2.0 mg/mL. Reconstituted antibody should contain 0.1% sodium azide when stored at 4°C.

Specificity:
This antibody specifically reacts with human P-cadherin and inhibits P-cadherin-dependent cell-cell contact.

Storage:
Store at 4°C. This product does not contain preservative. Stock solution (2.0 mg/mL) should be stored in aliquots at -20°C for up to 1 year, or at 4°C for 6 months after adding 0.1% sodium azide. Avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles.

Target Information

P-cadherin (Cadherin-3) is a Type 1 cadherin protein belonging to the cadherin superfamily. These calcium-dependent cell-cell adhesion glycoproteins play roles in development, wound healing, cell signaling, growth, and differentiation.
P-cadherin is expressed in human fetal tissues and adult structures such as the basal epidermis, breast, prostate, ovary, cervix, hair follicle, and corneal endothelium. It is also found in embryonic stem cells and mammary gland stem cells. Overexpression is linked to poor prognosis in several carcinomas. Mutations in CDH3 are associated with congenital hypotrichosis with juvenile macular dystrophy.
