STAT5 beta는 STAT 전사인자 패밀리에 속하는 단백질로, 사이토카인 및 성장인자에 반응하여 인산화되고 핵으로 이동하여 전사 활성화 역할을 수행합니다.
IL2, IL4, CSF1 및 다양한 성장호르몬에 의해 신호전달을 매개하며, TCR 신호전달, 세포사멸, 유방샘 발달, 간 유전자 발현의 성적 이형성 등 다양한 생물학적 과정에 관여합니다.
또한 일부 급성 전골수성 백혈병(APLL)에서 RARA 유전자와 융합되는 것으로 보고되었습니다.
이 단백질의 신호전달 경로의 조절 이상은 APLL의 원인이 될 수 있습니다.
