EPHA4는 단백질 티로신 키나아제 계열의 ephrin 수용체 하위군에 속합니다. EPH 및 관련 수용체는 특히 신경계에서 발생 과정에 관여하는 것으로 알려져 있습니다. EPH 하위군 수용체는 일반적으로 단일 키나아제 도메인과 시스테인 풍부 도메인 및 두 개의 fibronectin type III 반복을 포함하는 세포외 영역을 가집니다. Ephrin 수용체는 세포외 도메인 서열의 유사성과 ephrin-A 및 ephrin-B 리간드에 대한 결합 친화도에 따라 두 그룹으로 나뉩니다. EphA4는 ephrin-A 리간드에 결합하는 단백질을 암호화합니다.
