EPHA4는 단백질 티로신 키나제 계열의 ephrin 수용체 하위군에 속하며, 주로 신경계 발달 과정에서 중요한 역할을 하는 것으로 알려져 있습니다. EPH 수용체는 단일 키나제 도메인과 Cys-rich 도메인, 두 개의 fibronectin type III 반복 부위를 포함한 세포 외 영역을 가집니다. Ephrin 수용체는 세포 외 도메인 서열의 유사성과 ephrin-A 및 ephrin-B 리간드에 대한 결합 친화도에 따라 두 그룹으로 나뉩니다. EphA4 단백질은 ephrin-A 리간드에 결합합니다.
