Target Information
The Aurora kinases associate with microtubules during chromosome movement and segregation.
AURKB (Aurora B) localizes to microtubules near kinetochores, specifically to specialized microtubules called K-fibers.
This complex functions in chromosome alignment and separation, histone modification, and cytokinesis.
The Chromosomal Passenger Complex (CPC) includes INCENP, survivin, and borealin, which regulate the activity, localization, and stability of Aurora B.
Two CPC forms exist during mitosis: one containing all four members and another consisting of INCENP and AurB.
AurB is overexpressed in several tumors, including primary breast and colon cancers, and may be linked to Aurora-A kinase via a feedback mechanism.
