Description:
The N1UG0 monoclonal antibody reacts with human CD4, a 59 kDa cell surface glycoprotein expressed by thymocytes, mature T-helper cells, and at low levels on monocytes. CD4 serves as a receptor for HIV. The antibody is suitable for staining formalin-fixed paraffin-embedded human tissue sections.

Applications Reported:
Reported for use in flow cytometry, western blotting, and IHC of formalin-fixed paraffin-embedded tissue sections.

Applications Tested:

• IHC (P): Tested with human tissue using low or high pH antigen retrieval; effective ≤10 µg/mL
• Flow Cytometry: Tested with human PBMC; effective ≤0.25 µg/test (1 test = staining in 100 µL volume, 10⁵–10⁸ cells/test)
• Recommended to titrate for optimal performance.
• Filtration: 0.2 µm post-manufacturing filtered.

Target Information

CD4 antigen is involved in the recognition of MHC class II molecules and acts as a co-receptor for HIV. It is primarily expressed on T-helper cells, and also on monocytes, macrophages, and dendritic cells. CD4 expression is found in thymus, lymph nodes, tonsils, spleen, and certain non-lymphoid tissues such as brain and gut. It plays a critical role in T-cell activation via association with the T-cell receptor and Lck kinase, and may mediate neuronal damage in immune-related CNS diseases. Multiple alternatively spliced transcripts have been identified (RefSeq, July 2017).
