Recombinant rabbit monoclonal antibodies are produced using in vitro expression systems. The antibody DNA sequences from immunoreactive rabbits are cloned and expressed, followed by screening to select the best clones for production.

Target Information
Aldh3A1 is a member of the aldehyde dehydrogenase superfamily, a group of NAD(P)(+)-dependent enzymes that catalyze the oxidation of a wide spectrum of aliphatic and aromatic aldehydes. It is highly expressed in the stomach and more strongly in the cornea, representing 5–50% of the water-soluble protein fraction in mammalian corneas. Aldh3A1 is thought to protect the cornea from UV-induced oxidative stress by detoxifying reactive aldehydes and directly absorbing UV energy. Although Aldh3A1- mice show no corneal differences compared to wild-type, mice lacking both Aldh3A1 and Aldh1A1 exhibit increased cataract formation following UVB exposure, suggesting Aldh1A1 may compensate for the loss of Aldh3A1.
