CD34는 111–115 kDa 범위의 고도로 당화된 단량체 표면 단백질로, 다양한 줄기세포 집단에서 발현됩니다.
조혈줄기세포의 표지자로 알려져 있으며, 세포 부착, 분화 및 증식 조절에 관여합니다.
또한 CD34는 줄기세포가 골수 기질세포 또는 세포외기질에 부착하도록 돕는 접착 분자로 작용할 수 있습니다.
세포 내 영역은 단백질 키나아제 C에 의해 인산화될 수 있어 신호전달에 관여할 가능성이 있습니다.
CD34 이상과 관련된 질환으로는 피부섬유육종(dermatofibrosarcoma) 및 신경섬유종(neurofibroma)이 보고되어 있습니다.
