Vinculin (VCL)은 세포 간 및 세포-기질 부착 접합(adherens junction)에 관련된 세포골격 단백질입니다.
F-actin을 세포막에 고정시키는 여러 상호작용 단백질 중 하나로 작용하며, integrin–talin–vinculin–α-actinin 복합체를 통해 세포외기질과 세포내 미세필라멘트 시스템을 연결하는 핵심 역할을 합니다.
VCL 유전자의 돌연변이는 확장성 심근병증(cardiomyopathy dilated 1W) 또는 가족성 비대성 심근병증(familial hypertrophic 15)을 유발할 수 있습니다.
