CYP3A5는 cytochrome P450 효소 초과가족에 속하는 단백질로, 약물 대사 및 콜레스테롤, 스테로이드, 지질 합성에 관여하는 monooxygenase 역할을 합니다. 이 단백질은 소포체(Endoplasmic Reticulum)에 위치하며, 글루코코르티코이드 및 일부 약리학적 제제에 의해 발현이 유도됩니다. CYP3A5는 nifedipine, cyclosporine과 같은 약물뿐 아니라 testosterone, progesterone, androstenedione 등의 스테로이드 호르몬 대사에도 관여합니다.
