Target Information

CD28 antigen is a 44 kDa disulfide-linked homodimeric T cell-specific surface glycoprotein.
It is a cell adhesion molecule of the immunoglobulin superfamily, constitutively expressed on most peripheral blood T lymphocytes.
CD28 is the critical T cell costimulatory receptor that provides the second activation signal by binding CD80 and CD86 on antigen-presenting cells.
It prevents T cells from entering an anergic state or undergoing premature apoptotic death.
In murine lymphoid organs and blood, all CD4+ and CD8+ T cells express CD28.
CD28 dysfunction is associated with diseases such as mycosis fungoides and Sezary’s Disease.
