Product Specific Information
- This antibody does not react with Mouse or Rat.
- For immunohistochemistry (PFA fixed): incubate antibody for 30 min at room temperature.
- Staining of formalin-fixed tissues requires heating tissue sections in 10 mM Tris with 1 mM EDTA (pH 9.0) for 45 min at 95°C, followed by cooling at room temperature for 20 min.
Target Information
E-Cadherin (epithelial cadherin) is a classical cadherin from the calcium-dependent adhesion protein superfamily. It is a glycoprotein composed of five extracellular cadherin repeats, a transmembrane region, and a conserved cytoplasmic tail.
Mutations in the CDH1 gene are associated with gastric, breast, colorectal, thyroid, and ovarian cancers. Loss of E-Cadherin function contributes to cancer progression by enhancing proliferation, invasion, and metastasis.
The protein plays a key role in maintaining tissue architecture and integrity. In humans, E-Cadherin is encoded by the CDH1 gene located on chromosome 16.
