Product Specific Information
Antibody detects endogenous levels of beta Catenin only when phosphorylated at Ser33/37/Thr41.
Target Information
Beta-catenin is an adherens junction (AJ) protein involved in cell-cell adhesion and signaling. It interacts with E-cadherin and alpha-catenin to anchor the adhesion complex to the actin cytoskeleton.
Beta-catenin also associates with the adenomatous polyposis coli protein and microtubules, participating in Wnt/Wingless signaling pathways.
It plays a role in morphogenesis and is expressed in various hair follicle cells.
Pathologically, beta-catenin is linked to pilomatrixoma, medulloblastoma, colorectal and ovarian cancers, and tumor development.
In the nucleus, it co-activates Lef/Tcf transcription factors, promoting transcription of genes such as cyclin D and c-myc, which drive cell proliferation and tumorigenesis.
