Target Information
Cytokeratin 18 (Keratin 18, KRT18, type I cytoskeletal 18)은 저분자량 케라틴의 type A(산성) 하위군에 속하며, Cytokeratin 8과 함께 존재합니다. 위장관, 호흡기, 비뇨생식기, 내분비 및 외분비 조직, 중피세포 등에서 발현됩니다. 주로 비편평 상피(non-squamous epithelia)에서 발견되며, 대부분의 선암(adenocarcinomas) 및 관암(ductal carcinomas)에서 양성 반응을 보이지만, 편평세포암(squamous cell carcinomas)에서는 음성입니다. 간세포암(hepatocellular carcinoma)은 Cytokeratin 8과 18만을 발현합니다. Cytokeratin 18 유전자의 돌연변이는 cryptogenic cirrhosis와 관련이 있습니다. 두 가지 전사 변이체가 동일한 단백질을 암호화하는 것으로 알려져 있습니다. Cytokeratin 발현 패턴은 다양한 상피성 악성종양의 구별에 점점 더 많이 활용되고 있으며, 이러한 항체는 면역조직화학, 세포병리학, 유세포 분석(flow cytometry) 등에서 유용한 연구 도구로 사용됩니다.
