Target Information
TRPV3 belongs to a family of nonselective cation channels involved in temperature sensation and vasoregulation.
Thermosensitive family members are expressed in subsets of sensory neurons that terminate in the skin and are activated at distinct physiological temperatures.
TRPV3 is activated at temperatures between 22°C and 40°C.
This gene is located near TRPV1 on chromosome 17, and the two proteins may form heteromeric channels.
