Target Information
MAP2K1 (MEK1) kinase is a dual-specificity protein kinase functioning in MAPK cascades, controlling cell growth and differentiation. It is activated by various growth factors, cytokines, and calcium influx. MEK1 activation occurs via phosphorylation at serine 218 and 222 by Raf1. It plays roles in stress response, apoptosis, and proliferation signaling. Mutations in MEK1 can lead to cardiofaciocutaneous syndrome.
