Target Information
TRPC4 is a member of the canonical subfamily of transient receptor potential cation channels. It forms a non-selective calcium-permeable cation channel activated by Gq-coupled receptors and tyrosine kinases. TRPC4 is involved in endothelial permeability, vasodilation, neurotransmitter release, and cell proliferation.
Single nucleotide polymorphisms in TRPC4 may be associated with generalized epilepsy with photosensitivity. Multiple alternatively spliced transcript variants have been observed.
The TRPC family (TRPC1–7) is closely related to the Drosophila TRP channel. Diseases associated with TRPC4 include Photosensitive Epilepsy.
CaV3.3 encodes a voltage-gated calcium channel subunit involved in neuronal calcium signaling, with slower activation and inactivation compared to other T-type channels. Diseases associated with CACNA1I include Childhood Absence Epilepsy.
