Product Specific Information

MA5-17036 targets BMPR1A in indirect ELISA, FACS, IHC, and WB applications and shows reactivity with Human samples.
The immunogen is a purified recombinant fragment of human BMPR1A (amino acids 179–378) expressed in E. coli.
MA5-17036 detects BMPR1A, which has a predicted molecular weight of approximately 60 kDa.

Target Information

BMPR1A is a Type I member of the TGF-beta receptor superfamily of transmembrane serine/threonine kinases that phosphorylate intracellular SMADs in response to bone morphogenic proteins. These receptors are closely related to activin receptors (ACVR1 and ACVR2).
Ligands of these receptors belong to the TGF-beta superfamily. TGF-betas and activins signal through heteromeric complexes with two different types of serine/threonine kinase receptors:

  • Type I receptors (~50–55 kDa)
  • Type II receptors (~70–80 kDa)

Type II receptors can bind ligands independently but require Type I receptors for signaling, while Type I receptors need Type II receptors for ligand binding.
