Target Information
The cathepsin family of proteolytic enzymes includes several classes of proteases:
- Cysteine proteases: Cathepsins B, L, H, K, S, O
- Aspartyl proteases: Cathepsins D, E
- Serine protease: Cathepsin G
Most cathepsins are lysosomal enzymes involved in peptide biosynthesis and protein degradation.
The propeptide region of Cathepsin H is highly homologous to other cathepsins and plays a role in cysteine protease processing.
Cathepsin H is implicated in pathological conditions such as neurodegenerative disorders and cancer.
