EPHB2는 ephrin receptor family에 속하는 receptor tyrosine kinase로, 신경계 발달, 혈관 신생, 시냅스 형성과 성숙 등 다양한 생물학적 과정에 중요한 역할을 합니다.
Ephrins는 구조와 서열 유사성에 따라 ephrin-A (EFNA)와 ephrin-B (EFNB) 클래스로 구분되며, EFNA는 GPI anchor를 통해 막에 부착되고, EFNB는 막관통 단백질입니다.
Eph 수용체군은 이들의 세포외 도메인 서열 유사성과 ephrin-A/B 리간드 결합 친화도에 따라 두 그룹으로 나뉘며, receptor tyrosine kinase(RTK) 계열 중 가장 큰 하위 그룹을 형성합니다.
EphB4는 ephrin-B2와 결합하여 혈관 발달에 중요한 역할을 합니다.
