EPHB3는 ephrin receptor family에 속하는 수용체 티로신 키나아제로, 신경계 발달, 혈관신생, 시냅스 형성과 성숙 등 다양한 생물학적 과정에서 중요한 역할을 합니다. Eph 수용체와 ephrin 리간드는 상호 보완적인 발현 패턴을 보이며, 신경 조직에서 거의 모든 Eph 수용체와 ephrin 리간드가 발현됩니다. Ephs와 ephrins는 혈관신생 과정에서도 중요한 기능을 수행합니다.
