EPHB4는 ephrin 수용체 계열에 속하는 receptor tyrosine kinase로, 신경계 발달, 혈관형성 및 시냅스 형성과 성숙 등 다양한 생물학적 과정에 중요한 역할을 합니다. Ephrin-A (EFNA) 클래스는 GPI 연결을 통해 막에 고정되며, Ephrin-B (EFNB) 클래스는 막관통 단백질입니다. Eph 수용체는 구조와 서열 유사성에 따라 두 그룹으로 나뉘며, Ephrin-A와 Ephrin-B 리간드에 대한 결합 친화도에 따라 구분됩니다. Ephrin 수용체는 RTK 계열 중 가장 큰 하위 그룹을 이루며, EphB4 단백질은 ephrin-B2와 결합하여 혈관 발달에 필수적인 역할을 합니다.
