MAP2K1 (MEK1) kinase는 mitogen-activated protein kinase (MAPK) 경로에서 작용하는 dual-specificity protein kinase로, 세포 성장과 분화를 조절합니다. 다양한 성장 인자와 사이토카인, 막 탈분극 및 칼슘 유입에 의해 활성화되며, Raf1에 의해 Ser218 및 Ser222 잔기의 인산화로 활성화됩니다. 스트레스 반응, 세포사멸, 사이토카인에 의한 증식 유도에 관여하며, 유전자 변이는 cardiofaciocutaneous syndrome을 유발할 수 있습니다.
