This antibody specifically recognizes Mouse Synaptotagmin 1 (SYT1).
Target Information
Synaptotagmin 1 is a synaptic vesicle membrane glycoprotein widely expressed throughout the CNS and acts as a Ca²⁺ sensor regulating exocytosis and neurotransmitter release.
It mediates Ca²⁺-dependent binding of SNAP25 for membrane fusion triggering. Specific residues in the C2B domain influence endocytic rate and vesicle size.
Synaptotagmin 1 binds acidic phospholipids requiring both an acidic head group and diacyl backbone, and interacts with receptors for activated protein kinase C in a Ca²⁺-dependent manner.
It also binds neurexins, syntaxin, and AP2 in a Ca²⁺-independent manner.
Dysfunction of Synaptotagmin 1 is associated with food-borne and infant botulism.
