Target Information
GRK1 is a member of the G protein-coupled receptor kinase (GRK) subfamily within the Serine/Threonine kinase family. It phosphorylates rhodopsin to initiate deactivation. Phosphorylation promotes arrestin binding, terminating receptor signaling. GRK1 is farnesylated for membrane association and inhibited by recoverin, a calcium-binding protein.
Diseases associated with GRK1 dysfunction include Oguchi Disease-2 and Hereditary Night Blindness.
