Aconitase 2 단백질은 aconitase/IPM isomerase 계열에 속하며, TCA 회로의 두 번째 단계에서 citrate를 cis-aconitate를 거쳐 isocitrate로 전환하는 효소입니다. 이 단백질은 핵에서 암호화되어 미토콘드리아에서 기능하며, 산화적 변형 후 serine protease 15(PRSS15, Lon protease)에 의해 선택적으로 분해되는 미토콘드리아 매트릭스 단백질 중 하나로 알려져 있습니다.
