Product Specific Information
- This antibody does not react with rat.
- For Immunohistochemistry (PFA fixed): incubate antibody for 30 minutes at room temperature.
- Staining of formalin-fixed tissues requires boiling tissue sections in 10 mM Citrate Buffer (pH 6.0) for 10–20 minutes, followed by cooling at room temperature for 20 minutes.
Target Information
Caldesmon is a developmentally regulated protein involved in smooth muscle and non-muscle contraction. Two closely related variants of human caldesmon have been identified, differing in electrophoretic mobility and cellular distribution.
- h-Caldesmon (120–150 kDa): Predominantly expressed in smooth muscle.
- l-Caldesmon (70–80 kDa): Found in non-muscle tissue and cells.
Neither variant is detected in skeletal muscle.
