Product Specific Information

  • This antibody does not react with rat.
  • For immunohistochemistry (PFA fixed): incubate antibody for 30 min at room temperature.
  • Staining of formalin-fixed tissues requires boiling tissue sections in 10 mM Citrate Buffer (pH 6.0) for 10–20 min, followed by cooling at room temperature for 20 minutes.

Target Information

Caldesmon is a developmentally regulated protein involved in smooth muscle and non-muscle contraction. Two closely related variants of human caldesmon have been identified, differing in electrophoretic mobility and cellular distribution.

  • h-Caldesmon variant (120–150 kDa): predominantly expressed in smooth muscle
  • l-Caldesmon variant (70–80 kDa): found in non-muscle tissue and cells
    Neither variant has been detected in skeletal muscle.
