Target Information
CDC7 is a cell division cycle 7 homolog protein critical for the G1/S transition and initiation of DNA replication. It is expressed in many normal tissues, but overexpression may be associated with neoplastic transformation in some tumors and transformed cell lines.
CDC7/DBF4 kinase promotes S phase progression by alleviating inhibitory activity in Mcm4. The yeast homolog is also essential for DNA replication initiation. Multiple alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding the same protein have been detected.
