Target Information
Borrelia burgdorferi is a spirochete responsible for Lyme disease, a tick-transmitted illness affecting humans and animals. It can persist in hosts for months or years post-infection despite a strong immune response.
This bacterium is a motile, spiral-shaped organism with a unique genome consisting of a linear chromosome (~1 Mb) and multiple linear and circular plasmids.
