Target Information
The Golgi apparatus participates in glycosylation and transport of proteins and lipids in the secretory pathway and consists of stacked cisternae. Interactions between the Golgi and microtubules are important for its reorganization during mitosis. This gene encodes one of the golgins, a family of proteins localized to the Golgi, which may play roles in cisternae stacking and vesicular transport. Several alternatively spliced transcript variants have been described, though their full-length forms are not yet determined.
