• Store vial at 4°C prior to restoration.
• For extended storage, aliquot and freeze at -20°C or below.
• Avoid freeze/thaw cycles.
• Centrifuge if not clear after standing at room temperature.
• Stable for several weeks at 4°C as undiluted liquid.
• Dilute only prior to immediate use.

Pepsin antibody is purified from monospecific antiserum by delipidation, salt fractionation, and ion-exchange chromatography, followed by extensive dialysis against the specified buffer.
Immunoelectrophoresis assay shows a single precipitin arc against anti-Peroxidase, anti-Goat Serum, and purified/partially purified Pepsin (Porcine Stomach).
Cross-reactivity with Pepsin from other tissues or species may occur but has not been specifically determined.

Pepsinogens are inactive precursors of pepsin, the major acid protease in the stomach. Pepsin is a proteolytic enzyme secreted by the gastric mucosa, formed from pepsinogen by removal of a 41 amino acid segment from the N-terminus.
Hydrochloric acid is required for activation and maintaining optimal acidity (pH 1–3). Pepsin effectively cleaves peptide bonds involving aromatic amino acids and shows broad specificity.
PGA5 belongs to subfamily A1 of the pepsin family and is the predominant endopeptidase in vertebrate gastric juice. PGA5 is inhibited by ovUS-1, a uterine serpin.
