Carbonic Anhydrase I antibody is purified from monospecific antiserum by a multi-step process including delipidation, salt fractionation, and ion-exchange chromatography followed by extensive dialysis.
Assay by immunoelectrophoresis resulted in a single precipitin arc against anti-Peroxidase, anti-Goat Serum, and purified Carbonic Anhydrase I (Human Erythrocytes).
Cross-reactivity with Carbonic Anhydrase I from other tissues or species may occur but has not been specifically determined.

Target Information

Carbonic anhydrases (CAs) are zinc metalloenzymes that catalyze the reversible hydration of carbon dioxide.
They are involved in respiration, calcification, acid-base balance, bone resorption, and formation of aqueous humor, cerebrospinal fluid, saliva, and gastric acid.
CA1 encodes a cytosolic protein highly expressed in erythrocytes and is closely linked to CA2 and CA3 genes on chromosome 8.
Multiple alternatively spliced variants encoding the same protein have been identified.
