Target Information
FOXA2 is a member of the forkhead class of DNA-binding proteins. These hepatocyte nuclear factors act as transcriptional activators for liver-specific genes such as albumin and transthyretin, and also interact with chromatin. In mice, similar family members regulate metabolism and differentiation of the pancreas and liver. FOXA2 has been associated with sporadic cases of maturity-onset diabetes of the young. Multiple transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been identified.
