Description:
The TM-b1 monoclonal antibody reacts with mouse CD122, the 90–110 kDa interleukin-2 receptor beta chain (IL-2Rβ). CD122 is expressed by NK cells and some T cells in the periphery, and is upregulated upon activation. CD122 associates with CD25 and CD132 (common gamma chain) to form the high-affinity IL-2 receptor. The TM-b1 antibody inhibits high-affinity IL-2 binding to its receptor.

Target Information

CD122 (Interleukin-2 receptor beta chain) is involved in T cell-mediated immune responses and is primarily expressed in the hematopoietic system. It exists in three affinity forms:

• Low affinity: α-subunit monomer, not involved in signaling
• Intermediate affinity: α/β heterodimer
• High affinity: α/β/γ heterotrimer

Both intermediate and high-affinity forms mediate receptor endocytosis and mitogenic signal transduction. The CD122 gene encodes a type I membrane protein.
Dysfunction of CD122 is associated with oligoarticular juvenile idiopathic arthritis and rheumatoid factor-negative juvenile idiopathic arthritis.
