Target Information
GK2 (Glycerol kinase 2), also known as GKP2 or GKTA, is a 553-amino acid protein belonging to the FGGY kinase family. It is involved in the glycerol degradation pathway and is localized to the outer mitochondrial membrane. GK2 is highly expressed in the testis and catalyzes the ATP-dependent conversion of glycerol to glycerol 3-phosphate, playing a key role in glycerol uptake and metabolism regulation.
