Target Information
The Notch gene family encodes transmembrane proteins containing multiple cysteine-rich EGF-like repeats in the extracellular region. In mammals, four Notch genes (Notch1, Notch2, Notch3, Notch4/Int-3) have been identified and are involved in the differentiation of the nervous system and other tissues. Delta and Serrate proteins act as ligands for Notch1. Mature Notch proteins are heterodimeric receptors produced by cleavage of precursor proteins into extracellular (NEC) and transmembrane/intracellular (Ntm) subunits.
