ARC (Arg3.1) 단백질은 시냅스 가소성의 주요 조절자로, RNA를 캡슐화하여 신경 세포 간 RNA 전달을 매개하는 바이러스 유사 캡시드를 형성합니다.
뉴런에서 분비된 ARC 단백질은 세포외 소포를 통해 ARC mRNA를 새로운 표적 세포로 전달하며, 이 과정에서 활동 의존적 번역이 일어납니다.
ARC 캡시드는 엔도사이토시스를 통해 뉴런 세포질로 유입되어 ARC mRNA를 전달할 수 있습니다.

- 단백질 합성 의존적 LTP/LTD 및 장기 기억 형성에 필수적
- 시냅스 활동에 따른 AMPA 수용체의 엔도사이토시스를 조절하여 시냅스 항상성 유지

- 시각 피질의 경험 의존적 가소성 조절
