This antibody recognizes CD90/Thy-1, a GPI-anchored cell surface glycoprotein expressed predominantly on thymocytes, hematopoietic stem cells, and neurons.
Target Information
CD90 (Thy-1) is a GPI-linked glycoprotein and a member of the Immunoglobulin superfamily.
It is expressed in murine T cells, thymocytes, neural cells, Kupffer cells, and fibroblasts. CD90 may play a role in cell-cell or cell-ligand interactions during synaptogenesis and other events in the brain.
CD90 serves as a marker for various stem cells and axonal processes of mature neurons.
Structural studies of CD90 contributed to the foundation of the Immunoglobulin superfamily and the first biochemical characterization of a vertebrate GPI anchor.
Diseases associated with CD90 dysfunction include nasopharyngeal carcinoma and thymoma.
