Target Information
This gene product belongs to the tektin family of proteins. Tektins are filament-forming proteins coassembled with tubulins to form ciliary and flagellar microtubules. The TEKT1 gene is predominantly expressed in the testis; in mouse, tektin 1 mRNA localizes to spermatocytes and round spermatids in seminiferous tubules, suggesting a role in spermatogenesis.
