이 단백질들은 SCF(SKP1-cullin-F-box) 복합체의 구성 요소로서, 인산화 의존적 유비퀴틴화 과정에 관여합니다.
F-box 단백질은 구조적 특징에 따라 Fbws(WD-40 도메인 포함), Fbls(Leucine-rich 반복 포함), Fbxs(다양한 단백질 상호작용 모듈 또는 인식 가능한 모티프 없음)로 분류됩니다.
FBXO21은 Fbxs 클래스에 속하며, 대체 스플라이싱을 통해 두 가지 전사체 변형을 생성합니다.
