Target Information

NAD-dependent protein deacetylase sirtuin-1 (SIRT1) links transcriptional regulation directly to intracellular energetics and participates in the coordination of several cellular functions such as cell cycle, response to DNA damage, metabolism, apoptosis, and autophagy.
SIRT1 modulates chromatin function through histone deacetylation and can alter histone and DNA methylation, leading to transcriptional repression.
It plays an essential role in skeletal muscle cell differentiation and mediates inhibitory effects on myoblast differentiation under low nutrient conditions involving AMPK and NAMPT.
