Target Information
BUBR1 is a member of the Ser/Thr protein kinase family and a key component of the mitotic checkpoint that delays anaphase until all chromosomes are properly attached to the spindle. Dysfunction in this checkpoint contributes to genetic instability and cancer progression.
Human cells contain two related kinases, hBUBR1 and hBUB1, which monitor kinetochore-microtubule interactions during mitosis. BUBR1 has been identified as a binding partner of BCSG1 (Breast Cancer-Specific Gene 1), suggesting a role in accelerating breast cancer progression by compromising mitotic checkpoint control.
