This antibody detects endogenous levels of total SCN4B.
Target Information
The SCN4B protein modulates channel gating kinetics and causes negative shifts in the voltage dependence of activation of certain alpha sodium channels, without affecting the voltage dependence of inactivation. It is highly expressed in dorsal root ganglia, and at lower levels in the brain, spinal cord, skeletal muscle, and heart.
Defects in SCN4B are associated with long QT syndrome type 10 (LQT10) [MIM:611819], a cardiac disorder characterized by prolonged QT interval and polymorphic ventricular arrhythmias, which can lead to syncope or sudden death under stress or exercise.
