Target Information
STAC2 (SH3 and cysteine-rich domain-containing protein 2), also known as 24b2/STAC2, is a 411 amino acid protein that contains one SH3 domain and one phorbol-ester/DAG-type zinc finger. It encodes two alternatively spliced isoforms, and the STAC2 gene maps to human chromosome 17q12.
Chromosome 17 encodes over 1,200 genes and includes key tumor suppressor genes such as p53 and BRCA1.
- p53: Maintains genetic integrity through DNA repair and apoptosis regulation; loss of function is linked to malignant cell growth and Li-Fraumeni syndrome.
- BRCA1: Involved in DNA repair and associated with early-onset breast and ovarian cancers, as well as cancers of the colon, prostate, and fallopian tubes.
