Product Specific Information
This antibody recognizes CD43, a predominant cell surface sialoprotein of leukocytes that regulates multiple T-cell functions, including activation, proliferation, differentiation, trafficking, and migration.
Target Information
CD43 (leukosialin, sialophorin) is a transmembrane mucin-like protein with a high negative charge, expressed on the surface of most hematopoietic cells. It contributes to a repulsive barrier that interferes with cellular adhesion but can also promote leukocyte aggregation. Through interactions with actin-binding proteins ezrin and moesin, CD43 regulates T-cell morphology and cell-cell interactions during lymphocyte trafficking. CD43 signaling modulates LFA-1 adhesiveness and influences tumor suppressor p53 activity. Dysregulation of CD43 is associated with Wiscott-Aldrich Syndrome and Adenoid Basal Cell Carcinoma.
