Target Information
TCEAL1 (Transcription Elongation Factor A (SII) Protein 3), also known as p21, SIIR, or pp21, is a member of the TFS-II family. These transcription elongation factors release RNA polymerase II (Pol II) from transcriptional arrest. When RNA polymerases are trapped at DNA arresting sites, TFS-II family factors activate the intrinsic RNA cleavage activity of Pol II, allowing the enzyme to cleave the nascent transcript and resume elongation.
TCEAL1 is a 157-amino-acid nuclear protein expressed ubiquitously and may function through protein–protein interactions with other transcriptional regulators rather than direct DNA binding.
