Target Information
MIF (macrophage migration inhibitory factor)는 최초로 발견된 사이토카인 중 하나로, 원래는 대식세포의 무작위 이동을 억제하는 T 세포 유래 인자로 기술되었습니다 (Weiser 1989). 이후 MIF는 뇌하수체 호르몬으로 재발견되어 면역계 내에서 글루코코르티코이드 작용에 대한 역조절 호르몬 역할을 하는 것으로 밝혀졌습니다 (Bernhagen 1993, Mitchell 1995). MIF는 생리적 농도의 글루코코르티코이드에 반응하여 대식세포와 T 세포에서 분비되며, 분비된 MIF는 스테로이드의 면역억제 효과를 상쇄하여 면역세포 활성화 및 사이토카인 생성을 조절합니다 (Bucala 1998). MIF는 염증 및 면역 조절에 중요한 역할을 합니다.
